Playground Ribbon-Cutting, Shrimp Boil Tennis Tournament, Public Art Input Session, Build Day

Parks Agenda

Community ParkREMINDER: Residents and stakeholders are invited to join City officials, staff and representatives of Niagara Bottling for the official grand opening of the newly expanded community playground that was made through a partnership with the entities and the National Recreation and Park Association.

When: 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13

Where: Community Park, 1700 Glenn Lakes Lane.

Community Park is one of the City’s largest and most visited parks and is used by groups, families, and sports teams. The park consists of a lake, multiple pavilions, baseball, softball, and soccer facilities.

In partnership with NRPA, Niagara Cares granted Missouri City with $75,000 to expand the Community Park playground with new equipment, creating an innovative, safe and fun outdoor space for families and community members to further enjoy.


In addition to the initiative above, the Parks & Recreation Department has a full program agenda that is fun for all ages. Visit or see details below:

Shrimp Boil Tennis Tournament

  • What: Friendly doubles tennis tournament and shrimp boil lunch to support the Junior Tennis and Adaptive Tennis programs. Complimentary player’s shrimp boil lunch on Saturday.
  • When: 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 & Saturday, Oct. 13
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Public Art Input Session

  • What: Join us and share your ideas for public art in Missouri City.
  • When: 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16
  • Where: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.

Tots & Crafts

  • What: Bi-weekly free family events that will feature donuts and coffee for parents and free play and crafts for kids. No registration required.
  • When: 9 a.m. every other Wednesday morning; the next sessions are being held on Oct. 17 & 31.
  • Where:  Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Bingo Night

  • What: Senior monthly bingo for area residents who are 50 and older. For $5, attendees will visit with peers, enjoy dinner and play friendly rounds of bingo for great prizes.
  • When: 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr. 

Family Fun Night: Halloween Edition

  • What: A free night filled with Halloween fun to include pumpkin painting, a pumpkin patch stomp, crafts and more! Parental supervision is required throughout the event. Pumpkins available while supplies last.
  • When: 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

How Does it Work? 

  • What: A free tour of the beautiful Brookdale First Colony Senior Living Property and lunch on-site. RSVP by calling the Recreation & Tennis Center at 281.403.8637.
  • When: 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23
  • Where: Brookdale Senior Living, 16900 Lexington Blvd.

Senior Foodies: Texas Biergarten

  • What: A chance for food enthusiasts 50 and older to meet new friends and enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant with great company. Participants can RSVP by calling 281.403.8637; participants will meet at the restaurant the day of the event and pay for their own lunch.
  • When: 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25
  • Where: Texas Biergarten, 6302 Hwy. 6, Ste Q

Free Junior Tennis Clinics

  • What: Free tennis try outs for kids between the ages of 6 and 16. All equipment will be provided and no experience is necessary.
  • When: 9 a.m.
  • Where: 
    • Saturday, Oct. 27 at Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
    • Saturday, Nov. 3 at McLain Park, 12039 McLain Blvd.

Tricks and Treats in the Park

  • What: Young ones are invited to come dressed in Halloween costumes and participate in the activities along the FREE Tricks & Treats Trail! Festivities include a petting zoo, moonwalks, a pumpkin patch photo station, games and plenty of candy.
  • When: 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27
  • Where:  Buffalo Run Park, 1122 Buffalo Run Blvd.

Dog Training Class

  • What: Once a week training for seven weeks by Wholistic Woofers & Co. for dogs that are at least 6 months. For more information and pricing, call 281.936.9663.
  • When: 3:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 28 and Saturdays, Nov. 3 to Dec. 15 except Nov. 24
  • Where: Buffalo Run Park (Pavilion 2), 1122 Buffalo Run

Beginning Birding

  • What: Learn how to select proper equipment, how to identify birds using field marks, songs, and behavior, and ways to get more involved. This class will meet for six weeks and will consist of several in class meetings and field trips in the local area to practice. For more information and pricing, call 281.403.8637.
  • When: 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 30 to Dec. 11

Build Day

  • What: MCTX is teaming up KaBOOM! and Blue Cross Blue Shield to build a new playground for Roane Park. Volunteers are needed; individuals interested in participating can apply to the Municipal Volunteer Program on the City’s website here:
  • When: 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10
  • Where: Roane Park, 1440 Turtle Creek Dr.


  • What: A chance for junior players to get in more match play experience while giving back! Participants that bring three food cans for donation will receive a raffle ticket! Drinks, prizes, and player’s lunch included; registration deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 6. For more information, contact 281.403.8629.
  • When: 9 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 10
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr. 

Senior Casino Trip

  • What: A chance for participants 50 and older to travel with great company to the Delta Downs Casino. Limited spots are available; the cost is $10, and interested participants can sign up at the Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
  • When: 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13
  • Where: Participants will meet at and leave from the Recreation & Tennis Center.

Children’s Dance Class

  • What: Monthly Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop classes for toddlers (ages 3-4) and juniors (ages 5-8) in partnership with All-Star academy. For more information and pricing, call 281.403.8637.
  • When: Now through Dec. 8
    • Toddler Classes: Ballet/Tap – Wednesdays, 4:45 p.m.
    • Junior Classes: Ballet/Hip Hop Combo – Mondays, 5:30 p.m. & Ballet/Jazz Combo on Saturdays, at noon

Skills and Drills

  • What: A chance to learn fundamental skills training of shooting, ball handling, post play, perimeter play, defense and special areas from former University of Houston stand out and professional basketball player, Craig Upchurch. Cost is $100 for four sessions and $180 for eight sessions.
  • When: 4 – 6 p.m. Tuesdays/Thursdays starting Aug. 7
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
