Independence Day Celebration Takes Place on Thursday; July is National Park and Recreation Month

Join us for Fourth of July Celebrations! Happy Birthday, America! Missouri City is proud to host the annual Fourth of July Celebrations. Join us on Thursday, July 4, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Buffalo Run Park for an evening of fun. There will be free entertainment/activities, and food for purchase from event vendors. End the night with a fireworks show sponsored by H-E-B over Buffalo Run Park at 9:15 p.m. that will light up the night sky. Stadium seating is available at Thurgood Marshall High School.

National Park and Recreation Month Park Prize Pack

  • What: Weekly competition that allows residents to enjoy the various parks. Follow the City Facebook page for clues!
  • When: Every Wednesday in the month of July
  • Where: Various City parks

#MCTXFit Challenge

  • What: Weekly initiative that challenges residents to use parks to step up their fitness game
  • When: Every Saturday in the month of July
  • Where: Various City parks

#GameonJuly

  • What: Weekly event that lets residents take advantage of the amenities at City parks
  • When: Every Sunday in the month of July
  • Where:  Various City parks

Wimbledon Social

  • What: Bring the All England Club to Missouri City! Celebrate the famous tennis tournament by participating in a tournament at the Rec. Eighth graders and older are able to play, and the all-white Wimbledon attire is suggested. There will be raffles and prizes for the winning teams!
  • When: 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 13
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
  • Cost: $15 per player, $5 discount for Rec members

Basketball Summer Camp

  • What: Improve your basketball skills with Coach Craig Upchurch! Participants will learn ball handling, shooting, perimeter play, post play, defensive techniques and more. This camp is for ages 7-14 from July 15-19.
  • When: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day from Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
  • Cost: $125 for the whole week

Free Tai Chi Demo

  • What: Learn about the relaxing challenge known as Tai Chi. Join us for a free demonstration to learn more about this exercise.
  • When: 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23
  • Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
